If Jerusalem is intense, Galilee is the exhale. Rolling green hills, a lake instead of stone streets, and a pace that finally lets the trip's earlier days settle. Most itineraries spend two or three nights up here, based in Tiberias, before heading south.
A quiet boat ride on the Sea of Galilee — the same water Peter fished and Jesus walked on — tends to be the moment people mark as the trip's emotional center, more than any single site in Jerusalem. It's worth building real time around, not rushing through on the way to somewhere else.
