Why We Love It
Rome does double duty for our travelers: it's a bucket-list city on its own, and it's the most common starting or ending point for a Mediterranean cruise. Either way, St. Peter's Basilica has a way of stopping conversation the moment you walk in — the scale doesn't come through in photos.
Church groups tend to build two full days around the Vatican alone; couples and families often do it in one long day and let the rest of the trip breathe. Both work — it's really a question of how much marble you want to stand in front of.
